What is Upper or Third Quartile in Math

Quartiles are values that divide a data table (or part of it) into four groups containing an approximately equal number of observations. The total volume is divided into four equal parts: 25%, 50%, 75% 100%. The F-value of the third quartile (or upper quartile) Q3 is 0.75.


Quartiles are calculated as follows. The f-value of each value from the data table is calculated. where i is the index of the value and n is the number of values. The third quartile is calculated by interpolating between f-values that are directly below and above 0.75 to find the value corresponding to the f-value of 0.75.
