Quartiles are values that divide a data table (or part of it) into four groups containing an approximately equal number of observations. The total volume is divided into four equal parts: 25%, 50%, 75% 100%. The first quartile (or lower quartile) Q1 is defined as a value containing an f-value of 0.25. This is the same as the twenty-fifth percentile. The first quartile is calculated by interpolating between f-values that are directly below and above 0.25 to find the value corresponding to the f-value of 0.25.
